Teacher Fired Over Porn Work Wants Job Back Apr 22nd 2012, 05:53 OXNARD, Calif. -- A California junior high school teacher who was fired for appearing in pornographic videos plans to contest her termination, the Los Angeles Times reported Saturday. The Oxnard Unified School District voted unanimously last Wednesday to fire 31-year-old Stacie Halas from her position at Richard B. Haydock Intermediate School in Oxnard, about 40 miles southeast of Santa Barbara. She was put on paid administrative leave in March as the school district investigated. Halas' attorney, Richard Schwab, told the Ventura County Star he and his client "disagree with the decision by the board to dismiss or seek the dismissal of Miss Halas. It is our intention at this time to vigorously contest the charges." Schwab said Halas' porn roles constituted "lawful conduct in a business which, while others may disagree with its content, is very vibrant in both Los Angeles as well as the state of California." Her dismissal charges have not yet been served, and she has 30 days to appeal them. School Superintendent Jeff Chancer said some students first spread a rumor in early March that one of their teachers was moonlighting as a porn star. Administrators investigated but could find no evidence, so they emailed staff saying the rumors were unfounded. But several teachers later said they thought the allegations might be true, citing information they had found online.
