An Arizona woman, attending her daughter's eight grade graduation, was shot dead Friday afternoon by her boyfriend who fled the scene, police said.

The victim, Takesha Barnes, 33, was attending the 8th grade promotion ceremony of her daughter, when Thomas Lamont Moton allegedly attacked her, MyFoxPhoenix.com reports.

Moton reportedly pulled up to her car and shot her multiple times in the stomach just before 2 p.m., while she was surrounded by family members and a security guard.

Barnes later died from the injuries after being rushed to a local hospital, MyFoxPhoenix.com reports.

"They pulled one of the girls from the front row," a student witness told MyFoxPhoenix.com.

The attendants at the ceremony were placed on lockdown to ensure safety.

Police say Martin, 38, is believed to be wearing a red and black motorcycle jacket and may be riding a Kawasaki Ninja Motorcycle.

He is considered armed and dangerous.

The couple allegedly has a history of domestic violence, and have children together, MyFoxPhoenix.com reports.
