NEW YORK – A bride-to-be and the best man in her wedding are missing after a speedboat crashed into a construction barge on the Hudson River near New York's Tappan Zee Bridge.
Carol Stewart tells WABC-TV that her daughter, Lindsey Stewart, 30, is one of the two who was sent into the water after the crash. She has not been found. Stewart identified the other missing person as the best man in her daughter's wedding, which is scheduled for Aug. 10.
Authorities say four other people were hurt in the crash, some badly.
Spokeswoman Ali Flockerzi says the six were on a 21-foot Stingray near Piermont when it hit the barge Friday night.
George Drescher with Rockland County Fire and Emergency Services tells the Journal News that one person was unconscious, one had a broken arm and the other two had minor injuries.
Rescuers searched for the missing boaters for several hours overnight before suspending the hunt. They resumed the search Saturday morning.
Piermont is about 25 miles north of New York City.
