3 found, 2 missing after Navy helicopter crashes
Sep 23rd 2013, 15:45

A helicopter operating with a U.S. missile destroyer crashed in the Red Sea on Sunday, the Navy said in a statement.

The MH-60S Knighthawk helicopter was flying with the USS William P. Lawrence as part of a carrier group dispatched to the region amid Syria's ongoing unrest, according to the AFP.

"The crash was not due to any sort of hostile activity," the Navy said.

The helicopter was carrying five crew members. Three have been found and are stable, while searches are continuing for the remaining two.

Aircraft and small boats from the USS Nimitz Carrier Strike Group are providing search and rescue assistance.
